In Loving Memory Coach Chet Gapczynski

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Coach Chet on Friday, April 3, 2026.

Coach Chet was the co-founder of FC Pittsburgh, a dedicated leader, and a mentor to countless players and coaches. More than that, he was a guiding presence whose steady leadership and values shaped everything FC Pittsburgh stands for.His impact—both on and off the field—touched so many lives. His influence, character, and example will continue to live on in our community for years to come.As we mourn this loss, we also celebrate his life and the many meaningful moments shared with those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.Coach Chet is survived by his four children, grandchildren, and a wide community of players, colleagues, and friends who were deeply impacted by him.Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers, and support one another as we honor his legacy.Details regarding a memorial service and Celebration of Life will be shared soon.Godspeed, Coach Chet.

FC Pittsburgh Chief Operating Officer

Coach Karwoski currently serves as the FC Pittsburgh Chief Operating Officer.

Coach Chris has over 30 years of coaching experience including 28 years at the NCAA Division 1 and Division 3 level, currently serving as the Head Men’s Coach at La Roche University leading the RedHawks to the 2025 AMCC Title and NCAA Tournament. Coach Chris has been an FCP Director and team coach since 2010, working with all ages, overseeing the Staff and Business aspects of the club, as well as dedicating to the development of FC Pittsburgh expansion, community involvement, and fundraising events. A long time leader in college and youth soccer in the Pittsburgh area, his impact mentoring coaches and players has had a significant influence in the game.

FC Pittsburgh Girls Director of Coaching

Sam Bailey-Hockin | shockin@fcpsoccer.com

Sam Bailey-Hockin brings 14 years of coaching experience to FC Pittsburgh, where he serves as Assistant Girls Director of Coaching, Head Coach, Facilities Coordinator and Director of Goalkeeping. Now in his eighth year with the club, Sam has played a key role in developing the girls’ program while also coaching for three years at La Roche University.

He holds a UEFA B License, U.S. Soccer D License, and FA Level 3 Goalkeeping certification. Sam is known for his player-focused approach, technical & tactical detail, and ability to develop well-rounded players across all levels. Sam is also part of our FCP Leadership Team working hand in hand with our Board in all aspects of club success.

FC Pittsburgh Boys Director of Coaching

Coach Nate has over two decades of coaching at the youth and high school levels. A nationally licensed coach and soccer leader, as a standout player in high school, club, and college, Coach Nate brings a long history of successful mentoring and growing players with his teams reaching state cup championships, regional success, and multiple tournament titles. Coach Nate serves as our FC Pittsburgh Boys Director of Coaching, overseeing our boys staff and teams day to day activities and management. Nate is also part of our FCP Leadership Team working hand in hand with our Board in all aspects of club success.
